The Washington Commanders have declared a significant commitment to 127 female flag football programs in the DMV over the next two years, further solidifying their commitment to sanctioning girls flag football in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. In order to expand the game, the team will provide more than $1 million in financing, equipment, and extra programming. One of the biggest donations to girls’ youth sports in the area is represented by the announcement.

The squad will provide financial support to each of the 127 girls flag football programs in Montgomery, Prince George, and Virginia Counties, as well as D.C. The Commanders will also give each program an NFL Flag Kit that includes 50 flags, 10 footballs, and educational materials, along with 25 personalized Nike uniforms. Additionally, each club will have the chance to host Commanders-hosted events in their local communities, including coaching clinics, Learn to Play, and celebrations for the start of the season and championship. From teaching new coaches and players the fundamentals of the sport to showcasing the area’s best athletes through championship programs, this multifaceted gift will support the growth of girls flag at all levels.

Mark Clouse, Team President, Washington Commanders, stated that expanding football at all levels is still a primary priority for the organization, with a particular focus on fostering the growth of girls’ flag football. We are pleased to increase our investment in the DMV area as the sport continues to grow in popularity nationwide by providing a top-notch experience for all participants, including athletes, coaches, administrators, and fans. We firmly think that sports have the ability to change young people’s lives, and we will keep working relentlessly with all 127 programs to promote girls flag football in D.C., Virginia, and Maryland.

Among the 127 teams are 51 programs from Fairfax, Prince William, Richmond, Arlington, Fauquier, and Henrico Counties, as well as 25 from the D.C. Public Schools and D.C. Charter Schools. The Commanders will also continue to sponsor 51 teams in Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties as part of their sanctioning efforts in Maryland in partnership with the Baltimore Ravens.
