Viral restaurateur and Seneca Valley High School alumnus Shihan Chowdhury recently chatted with Nick Sevilla, a seasoned math teacher at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Germantown who is breaking into the local culinary scene with his social media account Mr. 8 That. The complete interview is below. The interview was conducted last Tuesday when Chowdhury’s well-known Flavor Hive food truck stopped by his alma mater.
One of the topics Sevilla asked Chowdhury during the interview was regarding his favorite Montgomery County eatery. Chowdhury, a 2007 Seneca Valley graduate, said without hesitation, “I love Thai food.” My all-time favorite restaurant in the DMV is Sabi Sabai, which is only five minutes from Seneca Valley.
The Flavor Hive was introduced in early 2024 and immediately became well-known throughout the DMV area. Chowdhury used his big online fan base to help the company expand. The brand’s famous walking taco chips bag, which allows consumers to customize their own bag of chips or greens to be loaded with halal meats, cheeses, toppings, and sauces, went viral due to its affordable and substantial amounts.
On Thursday, July 24, The Flavor Hive, riding high on its success, hosted a soft opening for its first physical location at 4260 John Marr Dr. in Annandale, VA. Plans for branches in Manassas, Georgetown, and another interesting location are still in the works, while a second store in Alexandria is already under way.
