On University Blvd. West close to Dennis Avenue in Silver Spring, a car collided with a structure early Friday morning, prompting Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) to respond. The car hit a big residential building and broke a gas meter, which led to a gas-fed fire that spread throughout the house, said MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer. The fire has subsequently been put out after several units arrived on the scene. Fourteen residents have been displaced as a result of the event, and the driver was taken for medical assessment.
