An empty house under long-term construction was completely engulfed in flames when Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire in the 500 block of Ethan Allen Avenue in Takoma Park at approximately 5:45 a.m. on July 4.

About 50 firefighters put in time to contain the fire, according to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer. There were no reported injuries. The estimated damage exceeds $1 million, which includes about $150,000 in collateral damage and $900,000 in damage to the structure itself.
