After authorities saw two people chasing someone through the Cider Mill Apartments and discovered a loaded ghost pistol in their car, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) detained them on many handgun crimes.

According to MCPD, an officer stopped an attempted assault on a community member, leading to the arrest and multiple handgun charges of 26-year-old Daron Antonio Banks of Montgomery Village and 31-year-old Lowell Isaiah Young of Frederick.

Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police’s 6th District Community Action Team (DCAT) were near the Cider Mill Apartments on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at around 4:30 p.m., when they noticed two individuals—later identified as Young and Banks—chasing another individual through the apartment complex.

Young and Banks fled the area in a 2020 Ford Fusion as soon as police arrived to confront the person being pursued. Officers conducted a traffic check near Christopher Avenue and Hellingly Place after discovering that the Ford Fusion’s registration was suspended. Officers noticed a loaded 9mm privately produced weapon (PMF) under the front passenger seat of the car as Young and Banks exited it.

Following their arrests, Young and Banks were taken to the Montgomery County Processing Unit (CPU), where they were charged with several firearm-related offenses, such as having a loaded handgun in a car and possessing a firearm without a serial number.
