Three Suspects Wanted After Attempted Rideshare Carjacking in Bethesda

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating an attempted strong-arm carjacking of a rideshare driver on May 24 in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike in Bethesda and has released surveillance photos of three suspects, asking for the public’s help in identifying them.

According to MCPD, “At approximately 6:24 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the location for the report of an attempted strong-arm carjacking.

The investigation has revealed that an adult female victim was working as a rideshare driver when she picked up three passengers in the 10300 block of Westlake Drive and drove them to the Medical Center Metro Station in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike.

Upon arrival at the station, the two female suspects got out of the vehicle. While the two female suspects were standing near the vehicle, the male suspect,  seated in the rear seat, then began punching the victim while demanding that she get out.

Fearing for her life, the victim accelerated and made several sharp turns, which caused the the male suspect


to exit the rear of the vehicle.

The victim then drove to the 8200 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, where she called 9-1-1. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage in the area and obtained photos of the three suspects.
