“The Most Beautiful Restaurant in Maryland”

Published On:

Located at 820 Muddy Branch Rd. in Gaithersburg’s Muddy Branch Square, Royal Tandoor has been turning heads since it opened its doors in May 2021. Taking over the space previously occupied by the short-lived River Side Hot Pot, the restaurant has quickly become a local favorite. Photos and videos of the experience below.

Just two weeks ago, we couldn’t help but notice a sizable line forming for its lunch buffet. As one satisfied customer exited, they enthusiastically declared, “Check it out, it’s the most beautiful restaurant around.” When we inquired further, the response was even more surprising: “In all of Maryland.” Intrigued by this high praise, the Taste MoCo team decided it was time to experience Royal Tandoor again.

Arriving shortly after its 11:30 a.m. opening, we beat the midday rush that soon filled the restaurant. The buffet was a feast for the senses, offering an array of dishes like chicken biryani, goat curry, egg curry, fresh naan, butter chicken, tandoori chicken, dahl makhani, and saag paneer among others. The attentive staff ensured that each dish was promptly refilled, maintaining a plentiful spread for all diners.

But does it truly deserve the title of “the most beautiful restaurant in Maryland”? While we can’t make that claim definitively, Royal Tandoor indeed impresses with its stunning golden ceiling, lavish decor, and upscale furniture. Such elegance is unexpected in its unassuming strip mall location in Gaithersburg, making the experience all the more delightful.

The lunch buffet is reasonably priced at $19.99 for adults and $13.99 for children aged 5-9, available Monday through Thursday. On weekends from Friday to Sunday, prices adjust to $23.99 for adults. While we didn’t try any cocktails, the menu has plenty of beverages to offer. Photos of the food and restaurant below:
