As part of continuing enforcement efforts, officers made seven DUI arrests and issued a large number of tickets during the last week of Montgomery County’s Summer Traffic Task Force. This brings the task force’s ten-week total to 134 DUI arrests and more than 2,500 combined citations, warnings, and stops.
According to MCPD, officers from the Montgomery County Police Department’s Alcohol Initiatives Unit and Alcohol Enforcement Section collaborated with other law enforcement agencies to continue their traffic enforcement operations around the county during the tenth and last week of the Summer Traffic Task Force.
Officers made 50 traffic stops between July 20 and July 26 and made seven arrests for driving under the influence (DUI). Officers also conducted six breathalyzer tests, issued two equipment repair orders, issued 58 traffic fines, and issued 82 traffic warnings. 134 DUI arrests, 956 traffic stops, 1,222 citations, 1,331 warnings, 86 equipment repair orders, 26 criminal alcohol-related citations, and 47 breathalyzer tests have all been recorded since the task force’s inception.
It is crucial to remember that these numbers only reflect the enforcement actions performed by the task force’s designated personnel. This report excludes other DUI arrests and associated arrests made by patrol officers during this time. As a result, there are more DUI arrests overall in the county. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Maryland State Police (SPIDRE Team and Rockville Barrack), and the Maryland Transportation Authority Police are among the participating partner agencies.
