Six Flags Cancels Fright Fest, Park to Permanently Close in November

Published On:

For the 2025 season, Six Flags America has decided to forego its annual Fright Fest event in favor of Kids Boo Fest, a family-friendly daytime event that will start on September 13.

The park is getting ready to close permanently on November 2, 2025, which is why the cancellation occurred. As part of a strategic portfolio realignment, Six Flags Entertainment Corporation announced in May that it would close Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor and sell the 500-acre property for redevelopment. The sale is being handled by CBRE.

With hours of 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays, the park will only be open on weekends following Labor Day. All 2025 passes and tickets are still good until the last day of operation.

For our supporters, we have some significant news regarding the upcoming autumn season in Maryland.

We have strategically decided to change our operation schedule for the fall after extensive thought and analysis.

Our park will be open from September 6 until November 2 following Labor Day.Saturdays: 11 a.m.–7 p.m.Sundays: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We will provide your favorite thrill coasters together with the family-friendly fall entertainment and activities of Kids Boo Fest starting on September 13 with an emphasis on daytime enjoyment. As a result, our eerie Fright Fest event will not be happening again this autumn.

All Six Flags America passholders will receive a complimentary ticket to Six Flags Great Adventure’s Fright Fest weekends and select days from September 12 to November 2 as a token of appreciation for their valued membership.

From July 29 to September 1, there will be a special MVP (Most Valuable Pass) sale to mark the first anniversary of Cedar Fair and Six Flags’ merger. During this special time, you may purchase a 2026 Kings Dominion Season Pass, which will get you unrestricted entry to more than 40 parks through 2026, including Halloween Haunt this fall. In 2025 and 2026, this pass will grant unrestricted access to neighboring parks like Six Flags Great Adventure and Kings Dominion.

We hope to see you throughout our last autumn season. We hope to see you in the park soon and appreciate your ongoing support.
