Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services (MCFRS) reports that severe weather has had a major impact on roadways and driving conditions throughout the region, resulting in several felled trees and power outages.
Closures are occurring in the River Road area between the Beltway and Falls Road, according to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer. In the vicinity of Persimmon Tree Road, River Road is totally closed. The road at 9500 Falls Road is also closed, and the area in front of the Congressional Country Club is also impacted. There are no reported injuries from the tree on house 6200 Vorlich Ln. next to Barr Rd. in Bethesda.
No injuries were recorded despite a tree on house 11,000 Home Place Lane, close to Piney Glen Lane, Potomac.
Trees fallen, car burning, wires down, car completely burned, 5400 Mohican Dr.Update: There is a car fire on Mohican Road at Rivercrest Court in Bethesda, with wires down and the road blocked.
A car collides with an entrapped tree at the intersection of Connecticut Avenue and East West Highway. Additional A bus and a passenger car collide at Connecticut Avenue and East West Highway. Several individuals are being evaluated by @MCFRS_EMIHS; there have been no entrapments or significant injuries, but several lanes are obstructed.
