After extensive renovations that included new pools, slides, water play features, and enhanced accessibility, the City of Rockville has reopened the outdoor recreation pool at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center. A formal dedication ceremony is scheduled for July 13.
According to the City of Rockville: After a groundbreaking remodeling project focused at improving swimmers’ access, safety, and enjoyment, Rockville made headlines this summer with the reopening of the outdoor recreation pool at the Rockville Swim and Fitness Center.
“Our project began years ago with community input and an existing conditions assessment of the recreation pool,” Rockville Swim and Fitness Center Superintendent Adam Goldstein told Rockville 11, even though the repairs started in August 2024 and the renovated pool reopened in late June. We found that the community as a whole needed more options for all ages and skill levels.
Two brand-new pools and related infrastructure, improved filtration systems, new concrete decking with overhead lighting, and vibrant water play features were all part of the makeover. In addition to an 8-foot-tall slide, a wellness pool with lap lanes, and an activity pool with an in-water play unit, swimmers may now enjoy two 26-foot water slides, one open and one enclosed. Two gently sloping beach-style entrances to the activity pool, covered seating areas, in-water basketball, other unofficial recreational amenities dotted around the facility are all part of the renovation.
On Sunday, July 13, at 10 a.m., there will be a formal dedication ceremony for the pool.Visit rockvillemd.gov/rsfcrenovations to see the status of the renovations and to find out more about the new amenities. The address of the center is 355 Martins Lane.
