Road Closures and Parking Information For Takoma Park July 4th Parade and Evening Street

On Friday, July 4th, from 6 to 9 p.m., the Takoma Park July 4th parade and evening street celebration will take place on Maple Avenue, between Philadelphia Avenue and Ritchie Avenue. Jared Garelick will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the occasion. The City of Takoma Park has released the following parking and road closure information:


Parking is permitted from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM.Parking will be permitted in the following locations to facilitate locals and guests during the July 4th parade:

  • Lee Avenue between

    Maple Avenue

    and

    Hancock Avenue
  • Sherman Avenue between

    Maple Avenue

    and

    Hancock Avenue
  • Grant Avenue between

    Maple Avenue

    and

    Carroll Avenue


    (both blocks)
  • Hancock Avenue

    (all blocks)

No parking areas between 6:00 AM and 2:00 PM:Parking will not be allowed at the following areas for the sake of safety and parade logistics:


  • Jackson Avenue

    (both sides) from

    Ethan Allen Avenue

    to

    Sligo Creek Parkway

  • Ritchie Avenue

    (both sides) from

    Maple Avenue

    to

    Piney Branch Road

  • Maple Avenue

    (both sides) from the

    DC line

    to

    Lincoln Avenue
  • All parking spaces

    behind the City Building
  • All parking spaces to the rear of the

    Police Department

  • Lee Avenue

    between

    Hancock Avenue

    and

    Carroll Avenue

  • Sherman Avenue

    between

    Hancock Avenue

    and

    Carroll Avenue

  • All parking meters

    along the parade route and staging areas

Crucial:

Due to the parade and the evening festivities, parking on Maple Avenue will not be available from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.

Road Blockages:

With the exception of Maple Avenue, which will stay closed until 10:00 PM for the evening celebration, all roads along the parade route will close at 9:00 AM and reopen at 2:00 PM.

Parade Path:

starts where Carroll Avenue and Ethan Allen Avenue meet, makes a right turn onto Maple Avenue, and finishes where Ritchie Avenue meets Carroll Avenue.
