Comments

When you leave a comment on our website, we collect the information you provide in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser user agent string. This data helps us detect and prevent spam.

If you’re using Gravatar, we may also provide an anonymized string (or hash) based on your email address to check if you’re a registered user. You can read Gravatar’s privacy policy here. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture, if applicable, will be visible to the public alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the site, please refrain from uploading images that contain location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors to our website may download and extract any location data embedded in these images.

Cookies

By leaving a comment, you can opt to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for future convenience. These cookies are stored for one year to save you from re-entering your details for subsequent comments.

If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser allows cookies. This cookie does not contain any personal data and will be discarded when you close your browser.

Upon logging in, we will set several cookies to store your login information and display preferences. Login cookies expire after two days, while screen options cookies last for a year. If you select the “Remember Me” option, your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie only indicates the post ID of the article you edited and expires after one day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Our articles may include embedded content, such as videos, images, or articles. Embedded content behaves the same as if you visited the original website. These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, or even track your interaction with their embedded content, especially if you’re logged into those websites.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, we will include your IP address in the reset email.

How Long We Retain Your Data

When you leave a comment, both the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This helps us automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments without needing to review them.

For registered users, we retain the personal information provided in your profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal data at any time (except for your username). Website administrators also have access to edit this information.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account or have left comments on our site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. This includes any data you’ve provided. You can also request to have your personal data erased, though we may need to retain certain information for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where Your Data Is Sent

Visitor comments may be reviewed through an automated spam detection service.
