On Wednesday, July 9, Pollo Camperois will open in the food court of the Wheaton Mall. The restaurant is situated in the area where Moe’s Southwest Grill had stood.
The menu of the fast-casual company includes a variety of Latin-inspired dishes, such as empanadas, yuca fries, sweet plantains, flan, and fried and grilled chicken.
At Wheaton Mall, a number of other food court additions are also planned:
-
In the site of the former Sydney’s Burgers, Five Guys has started development. Famous for its freshly cut fries fried in peanut oil and hand-formed burgers, this restaurant is a mainstay in the D.C. area. Several of the chain’s outlets in Montgomery County, including Bethesda, Gaithersburg, Germantown, Olney, Potomac, Rockville, and Silver Spring, are among its more than 1,800 locations globally.
-
After renovations that started in April 2024, Popeyesis is anticipated to reopen shortly under new management. The mall’s food court will continue to be the new site. Additionally, Popeyes has locations in Wheaton, Germantown, Olney, Rockville, Gaithersburg, and Silver Spring.
-
Additionally, Burger King is making a comeback to the food court by occupying the space that McDonald’s occupied before closing in January.
-
Joining the lineup is FingerLicking SoulFood, a Jamaican-style eatery that began as a food truck in Frederick County in 2015. Blackened salmon, fried catfish, giant shrimp, pork chops, wings, Jamaican-style oxtails, and a variety of traditional sides including cornbread, mac & cheese, collard greens, and banana pudding are all on the menu, which is known for its soulful Southern cuisine. No opening date has been set as of yet.
