Earlier today, the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, located on the 8900 block of Rockville Pike, was the scene of an active shooter scenario that prompted the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) to respond. After receiving the concerned call, 2nd District officers were sent out at around 10:24 a.m.
The firearm was found to be a fake gun, allowing officers to quickly assess that the suspect, who seemed to be armed, posed no real threat upon arrival. The person was placed under arrest, and the community is not currently in danger.

MCPD 2D officers were called to the 8900 block of Rockville Pike at 10:24 a.m. in response to a report of an active shooter. The individual was carrying a phony firearm and is currently in arrest. The community is not in danger. The scene is safe.
