Officers were called to a gunshot in the 7400 block of New Hampshire Avenue early on Thursday, July 31. The event happened near the Red Carpet Inn in Takoma Park and was reported at around 12:09 a.m.
When authorities arrived on the site, they found a 30-year-old man who had been shot in the abdomen, according to police. Officers quickly provided medical attention to the unconscious victim until fire and rescue services could arrive. After administering extra care on the scene, emergency medical personnel took the sufferer to a nearby hospital for further treatment. His present state of health has not been revealed.
Officers gathered evidence from the parking lot area during the early investigation, which is thought to be related to the incident.
