The proprietor of Phowheels, a distinctive Vietnamese restaurant, is Tuan Vo. He grew up in Montgomery County, went to Springbrook High School and White Oak Middle School, and now lives in Burtonsville.
After graduating from Springbrook High School in 2008, Vo started working with Phowheels four years later in 2012 after trying the food truck’s offerings for the first time. Vo was given the opportunity to purchase the company from the former owner, who is now a friend and business partner. In 2017, he seized the chance and, with his family, jumped into the kitchen to take over the food truck.
We started taking Phowheels across the DMV, especially in our hometown of Montgomery County. Vo explains, “We serve a variety of exciting specials along with innovative Vietnamese dishes like our famous pork belly tacos, Vietnamese birria (also known as Bo khirria), pho, and banh mi on a croissant.”
After being given the opportunity to grow at the National Landing water park by JBG Smith, Phowheels built its first physical site in October 2023 in Arlington, Virginia. Our goal was to establish our company in Maryland, particularly in Montgomery County. I thought it would be the ideal chance to become involved in my community when we found out that EDENS was building a new shopping mall in Burtonsville! Vo clarifies.
