Here is a list of eateries and establishments in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront that have recently opened or are shortly to open:


Silver Diner Pergola is new.In June, Silver Diner RIO (9811 Washingtonian Blvd. in Gaithersburg) unveiled its brand-new 1,581 square foot outside dining pergola. The building presently has walls with a retractable window and roof system and a louvered roof. More details can be found here.

Spirit Halloween is coming up soon.Spirit Halloween is coming back to the Rio Lakefront, so Gaithersburg’s Halloween fans can celebrate. The seasonal boutique will return to the well-liked location with its extensive collection of costumes, decorations, and eerie animatronics, occupying the former Pier 1 Imports site at 30 Grand Corner Avenue. The retailer has multiple locations in the area, including Rio. Additionally, there is already signs indicating that the former Party City facility in Westfield Wheaton (11160 Veirs Mill Road) will open soon. Furthermore, a new store will open at 1683 Rockville Pike in Congressional Plaza, according to the company’s website.

Kareem’s Lebanese Kitchen Will Be Open SoonKareem’s Lebanese Kitchen has agreed to open a new eatery on the Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg. It will occupy the 212 Boardwalk Place location that last housed Bach to Rock. The restaurant, which opened in February 2018 in Naples, Florida, has received a 4.6/5 Google rating based on more than 900 reviews and a 4.4 rating based on more than 300 Yelp reviews. According to Rio, the eatery is well-known for its genuine Lebanese cuisine and adds a touch of the Mediterranean to our lively dining scene. Their menu is full of strong flavors and rich traditions, ranging from fresh mezze to savory shawarma!

Soon to Be Available: Koi SushiThe empty spot between Mason’s Famous Lobster Rolls and Chipotle will be occupied by Koi Sushi.

Perhaps Soon: In four buildings spread over the Washingtonian Center at Rio in Gaithersburg, Peterson Cos. has asked for approval of the schematic development plan for up to 500 multi-family dwelling units and 43,000 square feet of retail space. You may find more details about the proposal here.

    August 9th. The restaurant is located in the former Union Jack s space in the Rio Lakefront in Gaithersburg (9811 Washingtonian Center and menu items will include Cantonese Dim Sum, Peking Duck other popular dishes from Han Palace & China Garden.


  • Mason s Famous Lobster Rolls:

    Annapolis-based Mason s Famous Lobster Rolls has opened its first Montgomery County at 201A Boardwalk Place in August. The menu consists of lobster rolls, lobster (or shrimp) salads, lobster BLT, lobster grilled cheese, lobster mac and cheese, potato salad, lobster bisque, and more are all part of the fast-casual restaurant s menu. The rolls go for $21 with an option to upgrade to the Bar Harbor for $27 dollars total, which adds 50% more lobster & tail. You also have the option to make it a combo, which adds a beverage and side of your choice. The soups, which include lobster bisque, New England clam chowder, and shrimp & sausage gumbo, go for $6 for a cup or $8 for a bowl. The lobster Mac & Cheese is $17 and the lobster grilled cheese is $16.

  • TOUS Les JOURS

    TOUS Les JOURS opened at 1 Grand Corner Ave in December. It is located in the space that was previously occupied by Corner Bakery, which closed back in February after nearly 25 years in business. The French-Asian Bakery features a variety of breads, pastries, and cakes that are baked in-store daily, as well as a wide selection of coffee/espresso based drinks and teas.

  • The Barge Dining Pier at Copper Canyon

    Copper Canyon unveiled its dining pier last September. Customers can access the pier via two gangways attached to the existing boardwalk and there are approximately a dozen tables that can seat four diners each on the barge.
