MVA Expands Birth and Death Certificate Services to Three Additional Branches

Published On:

Customers can now acquire Maryland birth and death certificates at three new locations: Glen Burnie, Beltsville, and White Oak, according to a statement released today by the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA). Montgomery County’s MVA-Gaithersburg already offers the service.

The seven participating locations have printed over 5,600 birth certificates since the program’s introduction in 2021. According to MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer, birth and death certificates are essential documents for government benefits, employment, and identity. The goal of the Moore-Miller administration is to provide a one-stop government shop that offers safe and practical access to public services.

At eligible branches, customers can get a certified birth certificate when they pay for their driver’s license or identification card. In collaboration with the Maryland Department of Health Division of Vital Records, the birth printing services for residents of Maryland were created. The MVA began publishing death certificates for those changing a vehicle title in Maryland in October 2024. To guarantee the greatest security requirements, both services were created and put through testing. To maintain privacy, customers pay one customer agent after confirming their personal details with another.

Copies of official birth and death certificates cost $10, according to the Maryland Department of Health. The client departs with a fresh copy of the certificate they requested, which they can save for later use, and the MVA does not charge extra for either service.

The Transportation Security Administration PreCheck/TWIC, the Maryland Department of Veterans and Military Families, and the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) E-ZPass Customer Service Center are just a few of the state services that are part of the MVA’s one-stop-shop initiative.
