According to a recent survey, the percentage of people who like and disapprove of the first-term executive’s performance is continuing to decline, which is troubling poll news for Governor Wes Moore (D).
Support for the charismatic first-term governor has been steadily declining over the past nine months, according to a number of polls, the most recent of which was conducted by Maryland Now.
According to the most recent poll, five out of ten respondents said Moore did a good job. However, after just six months, the difference between those who like and those who disapprove of the governor’s performance shrank to 8 percentage points, a 13-point decline.
Between July 24 and July 30, 1,256 Maryland residents were polled via text messaging by Blended Public Affairs and influential Annapolis lobbying firm Perry Jacobson. The margin of error for the poll is 2.7 percentage points.
Moore’s performance was rated as excellent by 21% of respondents, compared to 27% in February, according to the poll. The percentage of respondents who said Moore’s job performance was not so good stayed statistically unchanged at 13%, while the percentage of respondents who said it was awful increased from 21% in February to 29% in the most recent survey.
This year’s third Maryland Now survey demonstrates a closing gap between acceptance and dissatisfaction.
