The 2025 Farm Tour is part of Montgomery County’s broader effort to promote sustainable agriculture and educate the public about the County’s 93,000-acre Agricultural Reserve, which comprises nearly one-third of the County’s total land area. Home to 558 farms and 350 horticultural enterprises, agriculture contributes $282 million to the County’s economy annually.
“This event is a great reminder that Montgomery County is home to one of the most productive agricultural reserves in the country,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “The Farm Tour and Harvest Sale give people a chance to connect directly with our local farmers, support sustainable agriculture and experience the beauty and value of our rural communities. These farms are a vital part of our economy and our identity, and I encourage everyone to get out, enjoy the land and buy local.”
This year’s event will include:
- 27 participating agricultural locations open for free self-guided tours.
- Opportunities to see farm animals, learn how food is grown and enjoy locally made cider, beer, wine and fresh produce.
- Family-friendly activities including tractor rides, pony rides, craft vendors and hands-on demonstrations.
- Food and beverage vendors, pick-your-own produce and farm markets at many sites.
The event will take place rain or shine, although some farm activities may be delayed or canceled due to weather or air quality conditions. Most farms are free to enter, though some may charge for food, beverages or select activities. No pets are allowed, except service animals.
