Kyle Carmean, a resident of Montgomery County, has been named the new Head of News and Content for WDCA Fox 5 Plus and WTTG Fox 5 DC. Carmean will be in charge of all administrative, business, and editorial tasks for the stations and associated streaming services.
Over the past ten years, Kyle has played a significant role in the station’s growth. Sue Diviney, senior vice president and general manager of the duopoly, stated that his inventive strategy and imaginative vision would continue to guide our newsroom toward future expansion.
Carmean has twenty years of experience with Fox Television Stations (FTS). In 2014, he became the associate news director at WTTG/WDCA. Carmean was the managing editor at WTXF Fox 29 Philadelphia for nine years prior to that. He managed the nightside desk at WJZ-TV 13 in Baltimore, Maryland, before coming to FTS. Carmean started out in television at WBOC-TV in Dover, Delaware, first as a producer and later as the bureau chief.
“As we continue to meet the evolving needs of our viewers in a multiplatform world, I’m ready for the opportunity to lead this talented team of journalists and content creators,” Carmean said.
He recently shared his joy on LinkedIn, demonstrating how excited he is about this opportunity:This new opportunity at FOX 5 DC excites me greatly. Serving our wonderful community, live streaming, and the @NFL Washington Commanders should all be thrilling this year! Without these wonderful mentors, I would not be where I am today. After much perseverance, Marilyn Buerkle granted me my first internship and position at WBOC! For helping me get here, I wanted to express my gratitude to all of the wonderful leaders!
