Montgomery County Native’s Company, Fore Fathers, Drops New “Maryland Man” Shirt as an Homage to Home State

Fostering an entrepreneurial spirit is nothing new in Montgomery County, and Nick Scrivens, a 2005 graduate of Churchill High School, is a shining example. The Maryland Man shirt is a new design from his clothing brand, Fore Fathers, which is well-known for its fashionable and dad-focused clothes.

The Washington Post highlighted Scrivens, who was born and raised in Montgomery County, for his final season as the starting quarterback for the Churchill Bulldogs. Scrivens also plays on the Bethesda Internationals under-18 team and is considered one of the best soccer players in his age group in the area. Scrivens views Freddy Adu, a former teammate, as a close buddy. “The new design is a heartfelt tribute to all the things that make Maryland so beautiful,” he said in a video introducing the new tee.

Beyond the usual tourist clichés, the Maryland Man shirt seeks to convey the spirit of the state. The Old Bay, the beaches, the community, the people, the food, the crabs, the mountains, Susan B. Anthony, and the community are all carefully included into the design, as Scrivens explained in the film. The varied terrain, extensive history, and cherished cultural landmarks that characterize Maryland are reflected in this eclectic blend.

Fore Fathers has a devoted fan base thanks to its cozy, well-made clothing and its lighthearted, frequently relatable dad-focused style. A different form of relatability—a shared pride in the state and its distinct identity—is tapped into by this new Maryland Man shirt. Someone who knows and loves Maryland personally created this wearable symbol of the state’s pride.
