A financial technology company called SmartAsset distributes a variety of articles, reviews, recommendations, and calculators on a range of personal finance subjects. They published a list of the Best Places for New Families earlier this month. Overall, Montgomery County, Maryland came in sixth.
Affordability of childcare and housing, the proportion of children under ten, and accessibility to parks and medical facilities are the five criteria used to rank counties. Montgomery County statistics were shared as follows:
The percentage of median household income that goes toward childcare expenses is 30.61%.
The median monthly cost of housing is $2,132.
Population under 10 years old: 11.81%
124,993 children under the age of ten
Population to primary care physician ratio: 742
94.26% of people live within half a mile of a park.
The proportion of housing expenses to median household income is 20.41%.
Fairfax County, Virginia, which is nearby, was named the greatest area for new families. With daycare costs for a family with two children averaging 24.0% of the median income and housing expenditures at 19.6% of the median income, Fairfax County, which is just a short drive west of Washington, D.C., scores highly for childcare affordability. In addition, there is one primary care physician per 898 persons, compared to the national norm of 1,504, and 96.0% of residents living within half a mile of a park.
