Montgomery County Man Charged With Mailing Threatening Communications to Jewish Organizations

Clift A. Seferlis, 55, of Garrett Park in Montgomery County, Maryland, was taken into custody and accused with mailing threatening messages, according to a criminal complaint filed against him by Eastern District of Pennsylvania United States Attorney David Metcalf.


According to the Eastern District of Pennsylvania office of the U.S. Attorney: The complaint alleges that the defendant sent multiple written threats via mail to Jewish organizations and entities in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and beyond starting at least March 1, 2024.

Numerous of these letters make threats against Jewish organizations and mention Israel, Gaza, or incidents in which Jews were murdered or subjected to various forms of violence. The messages go on to imply that the recipients may experience comparable violent incidents.

One of these correspondences was a typewritten letter dated May 7, 2025, and postmarked Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. An employee of Victim Jewish Institution 1 at the time with the initials J.G. was the recipient of the mail, which was addressed to Victim Jewish Institution 1.
