During a welfare check, the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) found two kids, aged ten and six, and their mother, who had been reported missing three years prior, outside a Bethesda hotel. The MCPD assisted in reuniting the father with his daughters.
Officers were sent to the Residence Inn by Marriott in the 7300 block of Wisconsin Avenue on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at around 7:26 a.m. for a check-the-welfare call, according to MCPD. Officers found three women sleeping on the hotel terrace upon arrival: two infants and a young adult woman who appeared to be in her late teens or early twenties. The kids didn’t react or interact with the authorities, and they were dressed in filthy clothes. Officers tried to get in touch with Child Protective Services (CPS) out of worry for their well-being and asked for the Mobile Crisis Team, who also expressed concern when they arrived.
All three were taken to a nearby hospital for medical assessment as the temperature soared and worries about their welfare grew.
Officers from the 2nd District discovered throughout the inquiry that the two girls were born to the adult female. The father of the children, whose contact details were found through a database search, informed officers that his wife, 36, and their two kids, ages 10 and 6, had been reported missing in Missouri. However, because the family was last seen in Florida, the case had not been added to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC).
Officers called CPS once more, and detectives from the Special Victims Investigations Division of the Montgomery County Police Department joined them at the hospital to help with the case. After moving to Montgomery County, the father of the children has been reunited with his daughters.
The investigation is still in progress.
