On Saturday, August 23, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) will hold its yearly Back-to-School Fair at Westfield Wheaton mall. Families may get ready for the new school year by attending this free program.
A range of family-friendly events, entertainment, and useful resources will be available at the fair. In addition to county programs and services, attendees can obtain information directly from school system departments. Parents and students can use these tools to get community assistance and navigate the school year. Among the events are:
Rodeo for Bikes!Don’t pass up this entertaining, hands-on lesson that teaches pupils vital bike safety fundamentals.All bicycles, scooters, helmets, and training are supplied by the Montgomery County Pedestrian Safety Department (MCDOT).
Trailer for COPE (Community Opioid Prevention Education).This exhibition, which is available in both Spanish and English, offers drug education advice to parents and the general public while being set up like rooms in a house. The COPE Trailer helps family members recognize warning signs and symptoms that could point to an opioid issue.developed in partnership with Montgomery County Public Schools and the Montgomery County Police Foundation, under the direction of the Montgomery County Police Department’s Community Engagement Division.
Free Immunization Clinic at Schools.On-site vaccinations are given by Montgomery County Government School Health Services to students.
