In a significant move for a local talent, ESPN has recruited Katie Feeney, a resident of Montgomery County, as a Sports & Lifestyle Content Creator. With over 14 million followers on social media, Feeney will contribute her distinct viewpoint to some of the network’s most popular programs. Adam Schefter revealed her new position on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Montgomery County is where Feeney’s roots are deeply ingrained. She went to Sherwood High School and was born in Olney. She was an athlete there, competing in track and field and dancing for the school, in addition to being a student leader, holding the position of SGA treasurer.
She also had a local link to her early professional sports career, having been appointed as the Washington Commanders’ first-ever social media correspondent in 2022. She was a lifelong Washington supporter growing up in Maryland, so this was a natural beginning to her sports journalism career.
The recent Penn State graduate will now contribute once a week to well-known ESPN programs including College GameDay, Monday Night Countdown, and Sunday NFL Countdown. Additionally, she will be SportsCenter’s daily lead on Snapchat, which has millions of users. Her material is characterized as a fusion of fashion, culture, and on-site access, providing a novel, Gen-Z-oriented perspective on sports media.
