, the beloved Burmese restaurant located at 930 Bonifant Street in Silver Spring, is asking for support as it faces declining business due to ongoing Purple Line construction.

In a message posted to social media, the restaurant shared the following:

“Dear Mandalay Family,

Since we reopened in 2022, your support has been crucial to sustaining the Silver Spring restaurant. We recently opened a new carry-out location in Ivy City while maintaining limited dine-in and carry-out service in Silver Spring.

We have come to a fork in the road. Due to Purple Line construction on Bonifant Street, dine-in and carry-out traffic has slowed considerably. As with all new openings, we’re experiencing some growing pains in Ivy City.

I am asking for your continued support of Mandalay Restaurant.

The Silver Spring location remains open and ready to serve you. The Ivy City location has a full menu and will enable our D.C. customers to order their favorite dishes from a closer location.

This summer, your patronage is crucial for Mandalay to remain open and serve you as we have for nearly 30 years.”
