After being named the finest sandwich by the Restaurant Association of Maryland in 2023, ISAAC’s Poultry Market has now won yet another prestigious award.The best chicken sandwich in Maryland, according to Chowhound, is their Honey Butter Chicken Sandwich.
Chowhound called the sandwich a standout on the East Coast and lauded it for its outstanding flavor combination. The sandwich is served on toasted potato bread and consists of a fried chicken breast slathered in fresh honey butter, topped with dill pickles and the restaurant’s special sauce.
Rob Gresham, a native of Montgomery County and a former CAVA Director of Operations, founded ISAACs, which initially opened its doors at 12167 Darnestown Road in Gaithersburg in February 2023. Salads, fried chicken sandwiches, roasted chicken, wings, and frozen custard are all on the menu.
While in quarantine with his 13-year-old son during the COVID-19 outbreak, Gresham came up with the idea. Sir Isaac Newton, who isolated himself during the plague in 1665 and produced revolutionary scientific discoveries, served as the inspiration for the restaurant’s name. Gresham remarked, “We invented a chicken restaurant, and he invented those things.”
ISAAC’s opened a second location earlier this year at 15785 Old Columbia Pike in Burtonsville.
