In 2023, New York’s famous

H&H Bagels

entered a new era of expansion, with agreements in place for 25 new restaurants, including 10 units in the DC area. Now, the first DC location will open at 601 K Street, NW on Thursday, June 12th– about 6.5 miles away from the Maryland line.

The grand opening will take place from 6am until 4pm on Thursday, June 12th. The first 200 customers will receive a mystery tote bag with any purchase– each tote holds an H&H gift card with random values, some up to $100.

The original H&H Bagel was founded in 1972 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. It closed in 2011 before being revived by a new owner in 2014. Unlike its original iteration, the current H&H Bagel now offers a variety of bagel sandwiches as well, which will also be featured at the DC location.

H&H Bagels, which has been featured on shows like “Seinfeld,” “Sex and the City,” “Entourage,” “The Office,” and more, has expanding outside of the tri-state area for the first time, opening new company-owned and franchised locations in Florida, California, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Illinois, and Connecticut. With a 10-unit franchise development agreement in Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Virginia.

No locations are currently scheduled for Maryland with the closest planned restaurants for now being in DC and Northern Virginia, but exact locations have not been named yet. To support expansion, H&H Bagels is opening a bakery facility in Woodside, Queens. This new facility will provide the brand’s bagels worldwide, utilizing the original recipe and the same artisanal New York water bagel method that the company has used for over 50 years. According to

, H&H will bake the bagels in New York, then flash freeze them, and re-bake them in special ovens at each store.
