From Friday, September 5 through Sunday, September 7, the Saints Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church (721 Norwood Rd.) in Cloverly/Silver Spring will once again welcome the community to its eagerly awaited annual Greek Festival.
The three-day event, which offers genuine Greek culture, cuisine, music, and entertainment for all ages, is a highlight of the late summer season. The festival is open Friday from 4 to 9 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Parking and admission are free.
Visitors may savor a broad range of home-cooked Greek fare, including the perennially famous loukoumades (fried honey puffs) and crowd favorites like gyros and souvlaki. This year, three inventive variations of baklava are highlighted: a refreshing baklava ice cream, a rich baklava cheesecake, and the traditional layered pastry.
Shopping with regional Greek merchants selling crafts, jewelry, groceries, and other items is another highlight of the festival. Throughout the weekend, there will be live Greek music and performances by traditional Greek dance troupes that highlight the vitality and enthusiasm of Hellenic culture.
Big Greek Cafe is hosting the second annual Gyro Eating Contest, which festival attendees won’t want to miss. The raffle for a brand-new 2025 Mercedes GLB, kindly sponsored by Mercedes of Silver Spring, is another noteworthy event. The fortunate recipient will be able to choose between receiving $30,000 in cash or a fancy car.
The Maryland Coalition of Families, which supports local families and communities, will receive a part of the event’s proceeds, rain or shine. This year’s festival looks to be one of the greatest yet, with mouthwatering food, exciting entertainment, and opportunities to win big. Put September 5–7 on your calendars and join us for a Greek hospitality and tradition weekend in Silver Spring.
