Governor Moore Elected As Vice Chair Of The Bipartisan National Governor’s Association

The only bipartisan national organization of, by, and for the country’s governors, the National Governors Association, chose Governor Wes Moore as its vice chair today. Before Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt takes over as chair in 2026, the governor will be vice chair for the upcoming year.

We all want to build a better future for the country and our states. According to Governor Moore, when we gather at the National Governors Association, we are more concerned with the quality of an idea than its origin. I’m excited to work with my colleague governors to create more robust opportunities so that everyone in our states, regardless of how they define success, has a chance at it.

To further the chair’s Reigniting the American Dream program, Governor Moore will collaborate with Governor Stitt to organize a number of meetings with governors, officials from the private sector, and activists. Three policy priorities will be advanced during the year-long initiative: expanding career and technical education, entrepreneurship, and economic mobility to unlock economic opportunity; reimagining education by expanding hands-on learning; and bolstering sustainable energy systems through strategic investment, regulatory clarity, and permitting reform.

In his role as vice chair, the governor will spearhead the group’s efforts to find creative policy answers through study and bipartisan cooperation. Under his direction, Maryland’s nation-leading efforts in inclusive growth and service will be highlighted, and best practices for state governments to improve Maryland’s prospects will be identified.
