A gifted student-athlete from Our Lady of Good Counsel High School, Evan Ferrufino, has been chosen to be one of 30 Dominican-born youngsters, ages 8 to 16, to take part in a distinguished cultural and educational program in the Dominican Republic.
The Instituto de Dominicanos y Dominicanas en el Exterior is the organizer of this special program, which aims to honor and promote the academic accomplishments of young Dominicans residing overseas. Evan, a standout football, track, and wrestling athlete, will travel to the Dominican Republic with other competitors on a fully funded trip.
Meeting the president of the Dominican Republic, interacting with congressmen, and learning about the nation’s rich cultural legacy are all part of the program. Evan was persuaded to take part by the chance to network, meet new people, and discover more about his Dominican heritage.
Evan, who was born in the United States and has a varied background that includes Salvadoran ancestry, is excited to deepen his connections to one of his ancestral nations. This Saturday, July 26, is the last day of the program, which started last week.
El Reconocimiento an estudiantes Dominicanos destacados en el outside is a program that emphasizes academic success while strengthening participants’ ties to their Dominican heritage.
