The 5th District Community Action Team of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) conducted an investigation into alleged drug activity in Germantown, resulting in the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of cash, vehicles, firearms, and drugs.

- Distribution quantities of crack cocaine, PCP and MDMA
- Approximately $43,000 in U.S. currency
- Five vehicles
The men listed below were taken into custody and accused of several charges involving controlled dangerous substances (CDS):
- Duane Shelton, 46, Germantown held without bond
- Kevin Patton, 44, Germantown held without bond
- Anre Russell, 39, Takoma Park held without bond
- Michael Marshall, 37, Gaithersburg released on bond
- Alexander Burch, 48, Petersburg, VA released on his own recognizance
Partly, the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) assisted with this operation. In order to detect, disrupt, and dismantle criminal organizations throughout Maryland, MCIN member sites get grant funds and strategic assistance from the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy. This allows for interagency collaboration and data sharing.
