On Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 6 to 11 p.m., Gaithersburg will host its free SummerFest celebration at Bohrer Park. The event will include live music, food and craft beverages, family-friendly activities, a fireworks display at 9:20 p.m., and a SummerGlo After Party. Fireworks will be rescheduled to June 29 in the event of bad weather, so attendees are urged to arrive early, observe safety precautions, and plan ahead for traffic and parking.
According to the City of Gaithersburg, SummerFest is Gaithersburg’s bright summer celebration on the vast grounds of Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. Come celebrate America’s freedom with friends and family. On Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 6 to 11 p.m., this free event will take place. Savor local brewers, food trucks, live music, and family-friendly events that finish with a stunning fireworks show and the SummerGlo After Party.
One of the top party bands in the DMV, INFUSION, will open SummerFest at 6 p.m. Savor delectable food and regional craft beverage purveyors, such as Saint’s Row Brewing, Gaithersburg, Freedom Brew, Dogfish Head Alehouse, and Waredaca Brewing Company. Up until nine o’clock at night, the air-conditioned Activity Center will act as a comfort station with indoor restrooms and areas for rest.
Around 9:20 p.m., a magnificent fireworks show will illuminate the night with 500-foot-long bursts of breathtaking colors and styles. The greatest spot to see them is in Bohrer Park, but there are other places around as well. Here is a map showing the best places to view.
After the fireworks, remain for the SummerGlo After Party and wait out the traffic. As the audience is entertained with LED hoopers, jugglers, and stilt walkers, INFUSION will do an encore. To join in on the fun, you can buy glow-in-the-dark items, and the playground will be completely illuminated.
Visitors can buy food and snacks from on-site merchants and food trucks, or they can bring their own food and blankets to have a picnic throughout the event. Personal grills, outside alcoholic beverages, glass containers, actual or fake weapons, and fireworks of any type, including sparklers, are absolutely forbidden for safety reasons, although coolers are permitted. Because to the enormous crowd and strong noise, pets are not advised. Pets must be kept on leashes if they are brought. Bicycles, rollerblades, scooters, and skateboards must stay in the Skate Park area. In public areas, smoking and vaping are prohibited by the city.
There is a little amount of parking on site. There will likely be heavy traffic after the fireworks show, so attendees who park on-site are urged to stay and enjoy the SummerGlo After Party. Free parking is available in a number of lots including the parking garage at Bohrer Park, which is a mile’s walk from Olde Towne Gaithersburg. You can find a parking map here.
Lane reductions along Route 355 next to Bohrer Park are planned by the Gaithersburg Police Department, and traffic patterns will alter during the event. Between Cedar and Central Avenues, vehicles will not be permitted to cross the street or turn left onto Route 355. Make appropriate travel plans. Please use other routes to avoid the area entirely if you are not attending the festival.
Along Route 355, crossing guards will be positioned at the junctions of Deer Park Road, Education Boulevard, and South Summit Avenue. Please exercise caution as there will be a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood. At 5 p.m., Summit Avenue between Hutton Street and South Frederick Avenue will be closed to traffic in order to protect pedestrians.
Please do not pull over on Route 355 to observe the fireworks. In addition to receiving a ticket, your car will be towed if you are not present.
The Maryland State Arts Council, Chick-fil-A, Patient First, and Amazon Fresh are the sponsors of SummerFest.
Summit Hall Farm’s Bohrer Park is the ideal location for a full-day family excursion. Along with walking trails, a playground, and ponds, it is the location of the Gaithersburg Water Park, Skate Park, and Miniature Golf. The Skate Park opens at noon, and the Water Park and Miniature Golf Course opens at eleven in the morning. Please take note that on June 28, the Water Park will only be available to city dwellers and aquatics members. The Miniature Golf Course and Water Park have admission costs.
In the event that bad weather forces the cancellation of the fireworks, just the fireworks will be moved to Sunday, June 29. On July 4, there won’t be any fireworks.
