The fourth annual DMV Veteran Shark Tank pitch competition will take place on June 12,at the Clarksburg Premium Outlets, in honor of Women Veterans Appreciation Day. The event, presented by Prince George’s Community College and United Way of the National Capital Area, features three female veteran entrepreneurs competing for a $5,000 prize, along with mentorship and business support services.
Per the news release: “DMV Shark Tank is a high-energy pitch competition that spotlights the entrepreneurial talents of female Veterans, reservists, and National Guard members, as well as active-duty servicewomen and military spouses and dependents. As one of the fastest-growing Veteran populations, female service members have played a crucial role in defending our nation, often overcoming unique challenges both in and out of uniform.
The winner of the 4th annual DMV Veteran Shark Tank will earn $5,000, plus mentorship and coaching from the Maryland Business Opportunity Center, the Mid-Atlantic Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC), the Maryland Small Business Development Center (SBDC), and the Military and Veteran Services team at the Prince George’s Community College (PGCC).
The winner may also take advantage of free marketing support, financial advisory services, intellectual property support, and commercial real estate assistance to help grow her business and amplify its impact.

Abby Malchow – former Small Business Partnerships and Education Manager for Amazon and member of the Board of Advisors for the University of Maryland (UMD) Dingman Center for Entrepreneurship
Dr. Katherine Sylvester – military dependent, founder of Operation MIST, and 2021 DMV Shark Tank winner
Hyacinth Tucker – military Veteran, founder of The Laundry Basket, and 2024 DMV Shark Tank winner
Presented by the Prince George’s Community College (PGCC) Veteran’s Center and United Way of the National Capital Area (United Way NCA), this 4th annual DMV Veteran Shark Tank event is being held in honor of Women Veterans Appreciation Day – recognized each year on June 12, the anniversary of the day the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act.
