According to MCPD, a resident of Gaithersburg set up a meeting with a bidder who was interested in buying a BMW that had been put up for sale online on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The seller’s house was to be the location of the meeting. The suspects, Prince Chukang of Silver Spring, 19, and Julian Chase Rose of Beltsville, 18, showed a weapon throughout the encounter and demanded the BMW’s keys. The victim fled after dropping the keys.

On Tuesday, July 1, a 2019 Infiniti Q50, which was later found to have been reported stolen, carried the third suspect, 20-year-old Kendric Rock of Silver Spring. In the Infiniti, all three escaped. When cops from many district stations arrived at around 8:01 p.m., they helped apprehend the criminals. Shortly after the Infiniti crashed and the suspects tried to flee the area, the group was arrested. During the arrests, firearms and ammo were found.

A number of accusations have been brought against all three individuals, including attempted armed carjacking and counts involving firearms. The Montgomery County Central Processing Unit is currently holding them without bond. Residents are reminded by the Montgomery County Department of Police to use caution when meeting individuals for in-person transactions that were arranged online. Every one of the six police district stations in the County has designated safe exchange zones.
