Extreme Heat Watch Issued For Monday

Published On:

On Monday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Montgomery County and the surrounding areas are under an Extreme Heat Watch issued by the National Weather Service (NWS).

With heat index readings predicted to reach as high as 110 degrees, hot and muggy weather throughout this period may cause heat-related illnesses. Washington, D.C., parts of central and northern Maryland, and northern Virginia are all under this alert.

The risk of heat-related disorders is greatly increased by extreme heat and excessive humidity. It is recommended that residents take the appropriate safety measures, including as staying in air-conditioned spaces, drinking lots of water, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure. Verifying the safety of neighbors and family members during this period is also crucial.
