The Burtonsville location of Jeffrey’s Subs & Pizza, located at 15547 Old Columbia Pike. Previously known as Jerry’s Subs & Pizza for thirty years before changing its name in 2020, has announced that it will close permanently on Monday, July 14.
In 1954, the first Jerry’s Subs & Pizza debuted on University Blvd. in Wheaton, Maryland. The corporation had more than 100 eateries in the mid-Atlantic region during its height. But over time, the chain has drastically reduced its size. In Dunkirk, Solomon’s Island, and the Maryland House in Aberdeen, there will only be three Jerry’s Subs & Pizza establishments left, all of which are in Maryland.
Jerry’s presence in Montgomery County comes to an end with this closure. Additionally, Jack’s Subs and Pizza, a nearby facility in Frederick, MD, now runs on its own. You can view Jeffrey’s entire message below:
It is hard to think that we took over and ran the business in Burtonsville about 36 years ago, first as Jerry’s and now as Jeffrey’s Subs & Pizza. It feels like yesterday.
I still clearly remember putting a big trailer with all the supplies needed for the initial renovation in 1989 in the back of the parking lot.
Burtonsville has seen numerous changes over the years. Numerous dining businesses with a wide variety of menu items are visible and accessible from our entrance. Any restaurant that wants to stay in business needs your ongoing business.
We like to think that one of Burtonsville’s mainstays has been Jeffrey’s Subs & Pizza. We took part in community events, sponsored academic engagements and theatrical productions from elementary school through high school, and supported numerous youth sports and leisure activities.
We regretfully have to notify the community that Jeffrey’s Subs & Pizza will be closing on July 14, 2025, due to deteriorating business conditions and unnecessarily rising operating costs.
We appreciate your business. We wish you all the best in the years to come and will truly miss the friends we have made.
