Did you know that the two bronze statues of a bear and a cat that have long stood at Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront have a name and a backstory? A search for misplaced items is encouraged by the humorous sculptures of Kimo, a human-sized bronze cat, and Fridolin, a bronze bear.
A pocket watch, hat, suitcase, beehive, Dutch shoes, and a bag of popcorn with a bird nibbling from it are among the six lost goods described in the books that the bronze animals are holding open. Try to locate each one of them! See their tales below:
The Story of Fridolin:Hi there! I’ve been sitting on this bench for a very long time, and my name is Fridolin. Although I am currently retired, I have been employed at the Sweet As You Honey Plant in Gaithersburg for the past 30 years. I performed my duties effectively and never missed a sick day. This is where I’ve been happiest, and I enjoy hearing what others have to say. Living here makes me feel incredibly proud. I saw that Kimo, a new person at the mall, was sitting on his bench across from me. Did you also observe him? I would definitely like to offer him a sample of my well-known Rocky Chocolaty Broccoli Honey as a welcome gift, but oh, dear! I’m having trouble finding my honey! Would you kindly assist me in introducing myself and welcoming Kimo?
-A big beehive is missing. The bees swarming on it and around it will definitely offer you a hint as to its location!
-Until I find my shoes, I am unable to approach my new friend! My Dutch uncle gave them to me, and they have such a unique design.
-Without my hat, my ensemble is incomplete! It’s a very stylish tiny cap that fits my head perfectly!
