A major road rehabilitation project has been started by the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) on Democracy Boulevard, which runs from I-270 to Seven Locks Road. Weather allowing, the project, which will be carried out in two stages and aims to improve infrastructure for both residents and drivers, should be finished in 10 to 12 weeks.

On June 30, 2025, phase 1 of the project got underway, with an emphasis on concrete repairs. During this stage, gutters, curbs, and sidewalks must be repaired. During this phase, work will be done Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Phase 2 is expected to start on July 21, 2025, once Phase 1 is finished. Roadway resurfacing will be done during this phase using mill and overlay operations done at night, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The nightly schedule is intended to reduce traffic interruptions throughout the day.

Lane changes and closures are anticipated throughout the duration of the project for both cars and homeowners. MCDOT encourages drivers and pedestrians to follow posted signage and drive carefully in the work zone. Parking signage might be put up beforehand to help repairs go more smoothly.

As these crucial upgrades are performed to improve the County’s infrastructure, MCDOT thanks the community for their cooperation and patience. If there are no major operational or weather-related delays, the project should be finished in 70 days.
