August Purple Line Traffic Alerts

Published On:

The Purple Line and the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) have released the most recent August Purple Line access alerts:

According to the Purple Line, the intersection of Wayne Avenue and Fenton Street will remain temporarily closed until September 5, 2025. The intersection must be temporarily closed to all traffic in order for workers to install light rail lines, rebuild sidewalks, finish stormwater drainage, and establish utility crossings. Ride-on bus lines and WMATA may be impacted. Access for pedestrians will always be preserved.

Arliss Street between Piney Branch Road and Garland Avenue is still closed permanently. This closure enables workers to build the Long Branch Station and install utilities. There is a detour for cars and pedestrians, and a temporary driveway has been built to the Flower Branch Apartments. Turn north on Flower Avenue and east on Plymouth Street to the Long Branch Library. Please abide by the signage that is placed. Until the fall of 2025, work may be done from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both weekdays and weekends.

The intersection of Ramsey Avenue and Bonifant Street will be temporarily closed by crews from August 4 until October 6, 2025. Light rail lines must be installed, sidewalks must be rebuilt, and utility crossings across the intersection must be finished during this closure. The Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center’s taxi stands and Kiss and Ride will continue to be accessible from Ripley Street. There will still be pedestrian access to the transit hub, the MARC platform, and other establishments.
