Identity of 17-Year-Old Victim Released After Deadly Shooting

Additional details on the deadly gunshot that killed 17-year-old Jaril Verde Murillo on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, in Silver Springon, in the 700 block of University Boulevard East, have been made public by the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD). The inquiry is being led by detectives from the Homicide Section of the Major Crimes Division.

Officers from the 3rd District arrived at the 700 block of University Boulevard East at around 11:28 p.m. in response to a report of gunfire and a request for someone down in the street, according to MCPD. Verde Murillo was found by officers with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Verde Murillo was declared dead at the site despite the efforts of officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services officials to save his life. Verde Murillo was accompanied by two other men who were unharmed.

According to the preliminary inquiry, Verde Murillo, who does not have a fixed address, and the other two lads were strolling down a road near the Foxhall Apartments when the three teenagers were fired at by an unidentified suspect or suspects and fled. On University Boulevard East, Verde Murillo fell into the road. After Verde Murillo was brought to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, it was concluded that homicide by gunshot wound was the cause and manner of death.
