AH HAAN (Gaithersburg): On Sunday, August 17th, the full-service Thai restaurant in Gaithersburg, which is being built by the same group that created the well-liked Bangkok Garden, will open for business. We informed you back in January that Bartaco has agreed to open its first restaurant in Maryland at 11886 Grand Park Ave. in North Bethesda’s Pike & Rose. A little over six months later, there is some activity as the restaurant’s liquor licensing hearing is set for later this month and construction gets ready to start.Read more here.
California Fish Grill (Rockville): We announced in November of last year that the brand, which has over 50 locations throughout California and Arizona, had agreed to open its first location in Maryland at 12238 Rockville Pike in Rockville’s Towne Plaza. We recently informed you that the restaurant plans to open in the fall, and we now know that a $650,000 permit for the interior construction of the establishment has been issued.Read more here.
Marathon Deli (Kensington): We informed you back in June 2023 that Marathon Deli had agreed to open a new location in the future Crossroads at Kensington shopping area, which will be located at the intersection of Plyers Mill Road and Connecticut Avenue. The restaurant may be ready to open later this year after receiving permission to start interior development.Read more here.
Olney Ale House (Olney): We informed you in March 2023 that Two Sibs LLC, under the direction of Selim Kantar, had purchased the 100-year-old structure that housed the Olney Ale House for $1.45 million. The administration of the restaurant tells us that they expect to open by the end of the summer, more than two years later.Read more here.
