In an attempt to strengthen their receiving corps, the Washington Commanders released 6 5 wide out Michael Strachan and signed veteran wide receiver River Cracraft.
Cracraft adds another level of experience to the club since he has played parts of the Miami Dolphins’ last three seasons. The acquisition gives the Commanders a player with league experience who has also played for the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. In the meanwhile, Strachan was fired to provide space on the roster for Cracraft. Despite having played for the Colts and Panthers in the past, he was unable to establish himself in Washington.
Even though Cracraft isn’t well-known, his presence gives the Commanders’ wide receiver group a dependable option going into the preseason. And if he stays with the squad, his unusual name will undoubtedly become a fan favorite, as several fans have already pointed out. Cracraft has 374 yards and three touchdowns from 32 career receptions.
