Suspect Wanted After Safeway Employee’s Wallet Stolen, Purchases Made Nearby

The public is being asked to assist Montgomery County Department of Police 3rd District, Central Business District Team officers in identifying a subject who is wanted for fraud and theft.

The Safeway, located at 909 Thayer Avenue in Silver Spring, was the scene of the event on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 11:15 a.m. The suspect is described as a Black man in his forties or fifties, with a small frame, a salt-and-pepper goatee, and a black rucksack, white t-shirt, and Washington Nationals hat.

According to investigators, the suspect took a wallet belonging to a Safeway employee from a closet and used the person’s credit card to pay for goods at three other neighboring establishments.
