Takoma Park Police Department Chief Antonio DeVaul has announced the arrest of Mario Collins, 18, and a male juvenile, 16, both of whom are from Washington, DC. The arrests relate to the assault on police officers, the possession of a stolen pistol, and a stolen car.

The incident happened on the evening of July 29, 2025, according to the police. Officers on patrol in the 6300 block of New Hampshire Avenue observed suspicious activity with a car at around 6:07 p.m. The car was found to be stolen after an investigation.
