Regarding Bay Bridge traffic during the week of August 3–9, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) has released the following information.
Regardless of the weather, all work will be completed. The MDTA advises drivers to drive carefully and to heed all lane-control signals and traffic-control devices.On the bridge, headlights must always be on.Lane closures can change at any time, and the duration of closures depends on a number of factors, including traffic loads.
TOLL DOLLARS AT WORK: Due to preservation and maintenance work, the westbound span may be closed on Sunday from midnight until five in the morning. While the entire westbound span is closed, two-way traffic will be allowed on the eastbound span.
For preservation and maintenance purposes, the eastbound bridge may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, Thursday from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. the next day, and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day.The eastbound bridge deck replacement project involves deck removal and replacement during the nightly closures.For this important job, temporary concrete connecting slabs are used, which facilitates a smoother driving transition between work areas and permits traffic lanes to reopen each morning. For preservation and maintenance purposes, one lane of the eastbound span may be closed Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.The westbound stretch will have two-way traffic.
When crossing from shore to shore, take the off-peak route. On weekends, the following times are the best to cross the Bay Bridge:
