At Gaithersburg’s The Shops of Potomac Valley shopping area (12121 Darnestown Rd), there is signage for Fish Taco, a family-run restaurant that specializes in Baja-inspired fare. The area was formerly an AT&T store and was most recently proposed for a Wayback Burger, which never happened.
Fish Taco specializes in producing handcrafted, premium meals with ingredients that are sourced locally, sustainably, and seasonally. The restaurant claims that its goal is to provide a warm environment where patrons may savor delectable meals, cultivate genuine relationships, and cherish precious time.
The menu features a large selection of popular Mexican dishes such tortilla soup, elote, ceviche, and chips & dips. A wide variety of tacos, rice bowls, burritos, and quesadillas featuring proteins like chicken, beef, shrimp, fish, and vegetarian selections are also available to patrons. For lighter dinners, there are also salads and tiny plate versions of popular dishes.
There are currently three other Fish Taco restaurants in Montgomery County: Cabin John (7945 Macarthur Blvd.), Downtown Bethesda (7251 Woodmont Avenue), and North Bethesda (10305 Old Georgetown Road). The new Gaithersburg store is anticipated to open by the end of the year or the beginning of 2026, according to Fish Taco.
